Annibale Caracci "The Great Butcher"

I state that I am not a great lover of art and thus no expert, but I consider myself a curious person and a great thirst for knowledge, I am just a few hours of research to trigger input on the most diverse sites in search of knowledge .
So imagine what could have happened when, by chance, I imbattutto in the history of :

Annibale Caracci

(Bologna, November 3, 1560 - Rome, July 15 1609)

"original artist, experimenter and innovator, capable of elaborating a new art form based on Sudio of reality. The first break conventional patterns dating back to the early years, especially in those types of works among which is "The Great Butcher" performed after transfer to Rome where he wanted to deepen the study of ancient authors and artists of the Renaissance and particularly by Raphael . During the Roman period

painted the gallery of Palazzo Farnese (his most important) that first won him an everlasting glory, the other took him to slip into a deep depression, perhaps caused by excessive work and 'ingraditudine of his patron, who left the painting and brought him to an early death in a humble room. However, his
funeral was princely, and was buried in the Pantheon next to Raphael, according to his wishes. "

But back to the opera" La Grande Butcher, the artist has described perfectly clear and unbiased likelihood the various activities that take place in a butcher shop.

Featured below is depicted a boy who is about to cut off the head of a kid next to him there is another character who tries hard to hang half a calf from a hook, the twist of his head and body stress that is making the effort. In the middle, behind the counter, there is a butcher who has neatly veal steaks on the counter. Close the last image a butcher, dressed in a white apron, he holds the scales which weigh the meat, while the halberd Intruder in the purse to find the money to buy meat of his choice.

The goal of the young artist was not only to describe an environment "real" but also meant to give voice and dignity to industrious people, to those individuals who live and made the city rich with their hard work qu otidiana .

There is also another work concerning the same subject
known as "Little Butch"
(or two butchers)

smaller and with fewer characters, the intention of giving dignity to the subject is even more evident in the solemn and elegant installation that puts the butcher's knife in the sheath, an act comparable to that of a knight.

Finally many of you know the famous recipe "The Talisman of Happiness" by Ada Boni , (a real "bible" of Italian cuisine) Well on the cover depicts the Eater Beans always Caracci.

This work is located at the Galleria Colonna a Roma, mentre "la grande macelleria " si trova nella Christ Church di Oxford e "la piccola macelleria" in Texas, al Kimbell Art Museum.
